This is a laptop that has had all the work done by the original manufacturer. Manufacturer refurbs are often sold with a warranty because thee work was done by their trained employees. You can find these laptops for sale on their website. There are also special cases where the laptop was purchased and the customer no longer wanted it and sent it back. Once a laptop box has been opened the manufacturer cannot sell the computer as new regardless of how little it was used. Often manufacturers will label these as open box or refurbished.
The second type is a professional refurb which can be done by any computer repair shop. These shops will usually have their certified employees refurbish the laptop. These types of laptops can be sold at a considerable discount to manufacturer refurbished laptops. Rarely will these professional refurbished units come with any sort of warranty. You can find these at repair shops as well as online auctions.
